| Three boats rendered in gold leaf sailing on a deep blue sea give this early 20th century Turkish miniature its appeal. The sea scene is done on an old manuscript page and is given more interest with the addition of notations jotted at random around the perimeter of the miniature. Waves are suggested by silver lines done in a series of half circles on a deep blue background. Clouds are formed from loose half circles of gold on a darker blue sky. Edges of the margins on the manuscript page show foxing and discoloration but the painted area is in excellent condition. This is a work that should be framed showing the entire manuscript page as the margin notations give strength to the painting. Dimensions of page: height 12" (30 cm), width 8" (20 cm). | |||||||||
