| Gold leaf applied to a late 18th century manuscript page creates the background for this Turkish miniature depicting seven brightly garbed horsemen in a polo match. Strong color is used for the players' costumes and flowers on the field. This work was done in the mid 20th century using the type of old paper favored by many miniaturists. The painting is in excellent condition; the paper, while it shows its age and has been mended on the edge, is quite strong. Dimensions: height: 12" (30 cm), width 8" (20 cm). | |||||||||
