| Water bubbles gently out the top of this tall column of veined marble and glides down over carved lotus petals. The marble column fits over a small recirculating pump that rests inside a separate basin carved from granite. When the basin is set into the ground so that only a few inches of its rim show above ground level, it creates a pool around the lotus column. Both fountain and basin were carved in China, where feng shui principles call for the strategic placement of water-filled fountains, ponds and fish tanks to generate positive energy, or chi. Made in a village of stone carvers during the latter part of the 20th century, the fountain and basin are in excellent condition. The water pump is new. Dimensions of the column: height 58" (148 cm), diameter 9" (23 cm). Dimensions of the basin: height 12" (30 cm), diameter 24" (61 cm). | ||||||||
