| The frame is tortoise shell bamboo on this very unusual 19th century folding lounge chair from China. Entirely made of bamboo--even the pegs that hold it together are bamboo--this is a great piece of bamboo furniture, and a perfect item for collectors. A galloping horse is painted on the bamboo slats that form the backrest. The chair is quite strong and can be used--we have tested it with a six foot, 220 pound person--but sitting down and getting up should be done with care, and probably only your most adventurous guests would want to try it. Chairs such as this were used in China both indoors and outside. This one had the added advantage of folding flat for storage. The bamboo slat seat is a replacement; the rest of the chair is original and in good condition. Dimensions: height at back 33" (84 cm), width 43" (109 cm), depth 20" (51 cm). | |||||||
