Tibetan Buddhist Lama's Crown

The Tantrayna School of Tibetan Buddhism is evident in this 19th century ceremonial headpiece of a Tibetan Lama. The five panels that form the crown are covered with cloth, painted and gilded with images of Tantric Yidams, teachers of the tantric principles of the path to enlightenment. The Yidams are depicted with Yogini, their female partners. Five silk ribbons on each side of the crown hang from an embroidered silk emblem. The piece shows wear but is in good condition. The removable metal stand is included. Height including stand: 26" (66 cm).
